What is the difference in molecular structure between a tocopherol and a tocotrienol?
The difference is in the aliphatic side chain. Tocotrienol has three unsaturated, 3 double bonds on the isoprenoid side chain while tocopherol's side chain is saturated (phytyl side chain).

The various isoforms of tocotrienols differ in their methyl substituents on the chromanol nucleus. The a-form contains 3 methyl groups in positions 5, 7 and 8 of the chromanol ring, whereas b- and g- have 2 methyl groups and d- form only one methyl group. Each of these forms of vitamin E has a different reported biopotency.

Since the discovery of vitamin E, studies have primarily focused on the antioxidant activities of tocopherols. Most of the vitamin E commercially available is in tocopherols. Recently, researchers have conducted many tocotrienols studies because its protective effects exceed those of tocopherols.

Tocotrienols have therapeutic properties such as neuro-protection, anti-oxidation, reverse arteriosclerosis and apoptosis in human breast cancer cells.

SUPER T is a fresh reddish colored oil suspension of natural occurring mixing of tocotrienols and tocopherol, extracted and concentrated from palm oil. SUPER T is lower in a-tocopherol and higher in total tocotrienols. It contains higher d-tocotrienol which is the most potent isomer. SUPER T has the most balanced profile and even distribution of a, b, g and d-tocotrienols when compared to all known tocotrienol products available on the market. This better profile is highly desirable in terms of chemical, physiological and therapeutic properties.

SUPER T is produced through a chemical reaction-free process without any contacts with strong acid and base throughout the entire process. Apart from high value tocotrienols, SUPER T does contains natural emulsifiers such as monoglycerides and diglycerides, and other phytonutrients such as squalene, phytosterol etc. It is well separated from beta carotene.
